The State of the Advanced Materials and Battery Sector in Queensland in 2022.
This report is released to coincide with the formation of the Advanced Materials and Battery Council (AMBC). It details why meeting Net Zero Emissions (NZE) targets within timeframes to avert destabilising climate change, requires a very large investment in new technologies, in particular, nanotechnologies and battery chemistries. The establishment of the AMBC seeks to improve knowledge about the breadth of technology offerings that meet environmental, social and governance (ESG) requirements already under development in Queensland and the opportunity to help develop new supply chains unrestricted by geopolitics. The report is non-technical and targeted at policy makers, politicians, investors, manufacturers, the media and the general public to support discourse on government support for technologies that will advance the transition to NZE, build new opportunities for manufacturing in Australia and provide insight about the companies already operating within a value chain in Queensland. The AMBC is headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia but the Council will provide leadership on matters associated with advanced materials and batteries across Australia and beyond.
