MEDIA RELEASE 24/04/2024

The Advanced Materials and Battery Council (AMBC) Board is pleased to announce that the Council is extending its reach and visibility by welcoming Quentin Hill as its inaugural CEO.

Quentin brings his experience as MD of Australia’s first mover in green steel resource projects, to grow the support and impact of the AMBC and lift visibility of the sector by promoting its members’ new and bold industry visions to government, investors and the wider community.

Craig Nicol, the AMBC’s Chair, commented “the AMBC board is looking forward to working with Quentin, to build the AMBC into the peak body for the advanced materials and battery sector, and support the evolution of the advanced materials and battery ecosystem in Australia.”

“This is a critical time of opportunity for the sector” said Quentin, “and I look forward to meeting with all participants and building on the excellent early work of the Council in promoting the needs of its members, attracting new members and helping to build a diverse and strong advanced material and battery sector across Australia.”

ABOUT THE ADVANCED MATERIAL AND BATTERY COUNCIL

The AMBC’S purpose is to support the development of a world class multi-technology battery and advanced materials industry across Australia.

Established in 2022, the AMBC works to consolidate and extend collaboration between battery and advanced materials developers and manufacturers, universities and government. The Council enables our world leading researchers and entrepreneurial business leaders from across the value chain to collaborate to accelerate commercialisation and gain government, community and investor support necessary to nurture a sustainable new industry.

The AMBC’s reach includes a range of battery chemistries, precursor materials, critical minerals processes, mining, and advanced material manufacturing including nanomaterials, graphene and high purity aluminium (HPA).  The AMBC is also working with the Queensland Government to assist with delivery of parts of its Queensland Battery Industry Strategy.

With growing membership giving increasing access to Government, the AMBC is focussed on partnerships to create a sustainable industry ecosystem, promoting the needs of its members and becoming the pre-eminent voice for the sector.
